Ep. 1 – Prologue: A Problem
A lone penguin wearing a cowboy hat lies buried up to his neck in desert sand, the sun blazing overhead. He squints at you.
“You’re probably wondering how I got myself in this predicament,” he says, smirking like someone who’s told this story before.
“It’s simple. When you’re just that damn good at what you do, people are gonna hate you for it. Always.”
He wriggles, clearly trying to get free, but doesn't budge an inch.
“Well, since neither of us is going anywhere, how about I tell you a story? A real tale. The story of a true hero. A hero who singlehandedly defeated a dragon terrorizing the world of Azhin. After the dragon was toast, the king practically threw his daughter at him.”
The cowboy penguin shakes his head with a solemn expression.
“No, no, no. You’re probably thinking he accepted the king’s offer. But you’re wrong. This was a real hero. And real heroes don’t take rewards.”
He looks downward, eyes full of meaning. “The only reward they need… is the smiles of the people they save.”
A long pause. His eyes dart side to side. He looks nervous.
“…What’s that? You didn’t ask what it means to be a true hero? You want to know how I ended up buried in the middle of a desert? Oh! Right, right, silly me—I got off track.”
He clears his throat dramatically.
“Allow me to begin… the tale of the legendary Cowboy Penguin.”
Five years ago, on a planet known as Drunet, a certain penguin was interviewing someone.
Until next time...
Funny stuff. 😁
